Privacy Policy

Lights (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is a Bible study application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide the App’s features:

• Account information: your name, your email address and, if you choose to give one, an optional phone number, used to create and manage your account. Your email address is also used to send account-related emails (such as confirmation and password reset).
• AI Research questions: if you use the AI Research tab, the question you type is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to produce an answer. We do not send your name, email or account details with it, and we do not save the questions or answers on our servers. Please do not include personal details in your questions.
• Content you create: journal entries, bookmarks, highlights, and any video recordings you make within the App. This content is stored so it’s available to you across sessions.
• Camera and microphone access: if you choose to record a video journal entry, the App requests access to your device’s camera and microphone solely to capture that recording. We do not access your camera or microphone at any other time.
• Payment information: if you purchase Lifetime Premium, payment is processed entirely by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We never see or store your card details. Stripe handles this in compliance with PCI-DSS standards, and shares with us only confirmation that a payment was completed.

We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking tools of any kind.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and secure your account and the content you create
• To process payments and manage your trial or premium status
• To send you account-related communications (confirmation, password reset, receipts)

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services to operate, each of which processes limited data on our behalf, governed by their own privacy policies:

• Supabase: hosts our database, authentication, and file storage
• Stripe: processes payments
• Resend: delivers account-related emails
• Anthropic: provides the AI service behind the AI Research tab; the question you type there is sent to it to produce an answer

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard security practices, including row-level access controls that ensure only you can access your own journal entries, bookmarks, and account details.

Your Choices

You can export your bookmarks at any time from within Settings. You can also permanently delete your bookmarks and journal entries from Settings. This action is immediate and cannot be undone. To delete your account entirely, contact us using the information below.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
